Dh and I need some guidance... Got our infertility results bank and we found out that dh has a low sperm count of .8ml... I need a couple things. A) what do from here? B) how to cope? C) our sample was taken from home at 7:55 am and the analyzed nish adalar at 8:50, could this cause a wrong test? Help!! nish adalar Please let me know if note info is required. Thanks!! nish adalar
Hi Arhering, The time between sample taken and sample analyzed will not affect the count, because even if they die in the interim, their bodies are still in the sample and will be counted. My question is, was that .8 mil in the TOTAL sample or .8 mil /ml? If the latter, how many mls was his sample? In addition, when was the last ejaculation prior to the sample?
Sorry to hear about the low sperm count. DH and I just learned the same thing last month. After 1.5 years of ttc naturally, we finally saw an RE. DH's SA came back at 1.4 mil with 44% motility. We were pretty stunned when we were advised to go straight to IVF with ICSI. I recommend that you see an RE for advice on what to do next. The RE will be able to answer your questions about potential options. nish adalar They will certainly do another SA just to be sure (DH and I just did our second SA this week). There are other paths to pursue, as well. Your DH could see a urologist to see if there is anything that can be done to improve sperm count. For us, because we are both 36, it makes sense to move quickly to IVF, but I have heard of many other success stories nish adalar for younger nish adalar couples who had time to try to improve sperm count and then conceive naturally or with IUI. Hope this helps!

Sorry for the delay in response.. Yesterday was a really rough day! Dh is .8/ml and he had 5ml. We are going to get another test soon, but we are trying to to be hopeful. The doc said with a count like this that ivf is still really not an option due to the amount that would be left after scrubbing it. What is a re? Sorry I a completely new to this, so I am not sure. The results said it should be 20 million, so that means the number should be 20.0? Right? If you need the info dh is 32 and I am 28.
Sorry Arherring13! nish adalar There are a lot of acronyms on this site. RE stands for "Reproductive Endocrinologist". I am surprised that your doctor told you that IVF would not be an option. I have heard IVF success stories where very few sperm were available. Did the doctor mention ICSI–the procedure where a sperm is manually inserted into an egg? There is also a procedure where sperm is removed from the testicle. I hope you can find answers soon. Don't give up hope!

Hi Arherring, Your DH's total sperm count would be 4 million. I have seen women get pregnant with that low of a count doing IUIs but it's really risky in terms of you could waste years and thousands of $$$ trying to get pregnant that way and still never manage it. The total sperm count should be 20 million nish adalar or higher, with 50% motility or higher, to give you an estimated 10 million viable sperm assuming your morphology is high. Not that I am in your shoes, but I'm confident your doctor said that "IUI" is not an option, not "IVF". IVF can be performed so long as there are as many sperm as there are eggs. So you produce 20 eggs, he only needs 20 -- not 20,000 or 20 million, just 20 -- sperm. So I'm confident your doctor said IUI is not an option. As mentioned by joyjes, your next step is for your DH to see a urologist to see if this problem can be cured. For some men, it can, depending on the cause of the low sperm count. Sometimes the tests are just off because the man was sick in the past 3 months or because he's ejaculated too recently. Also mentioned by joyjes, you should be seeing an RE aka reproductive endocrinologist. An RE is who you'll need to talk to about IVF with ICSI in the event that the urologist is not able to help. Good luck!
Thank you all so much! we are going to see a doc today. But I was able to find out that ivf is covered under my insurance nish adalar 100% after I pay my deductible. nish adalar So it is starting to look like we may have some options. I hope al of you are doing well!
Oh hon, skip the IUI and do IVF. It's easier than IUIs (for me), less painful (for me), and you can get "left over babies" to freeze and have more babies with in the future. I
