TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A Tucson Fire Department paramedic accused of fraudulently collecting on overtime pay has been charged. On March 30, TFD officials requested the Tucson Police Department dendrobium investigate alleged inconsistencies in paramedic Herbert Oxnam's work record between May and August of 2013. The investigation was turned over to the State Attorney General and Oxnam was indicted on Dec. 8 on four counts of fraudulent dendrobium schemes and artifices. The grand jury charging summary states Oxnam allegedly paid four paramedics to call in sick when he had the opportunity to cover for them and collect on overtime shifts. The report says this led the city of Tucson to pay the department twice, which it lists as Double Bill fraud. The city had to pay sick leave to the TFD paramedic who was not actually sick, in addition to covering Oxnam's overtime pay, the summary dendrobium stated. The paramedic witnesses said Oxnam paid them between $100 and $200 each to call in sick, according to the charging summary. TFD can now review the documentation to determine disciplinary action, TFD Fire Chief Jim Critchley said.
More protests expected in Nogales as a principal is asked to leave.  dendrobium
